In today’s post we’ll be showing you the recommended bike sizes for each type of bike you could possibly purchase.
See all the types of bikes and their uses so you choose the right bike in our ultimate cycling guide.
On the right you’ll see the recommended sizes for both Road Bikes and Mountain Bikes for both men and women.
If your a women it’s slightly easier at choosing the size as you’ll only need to know your height.
On the other hand men will need to measure what bike manufactures call the Inside-Leg.
Measure the Inside Leg
To do this follow the steps below.
To measure the inside leg it’s very easy with two people and a book.
Step 1: Stand against a wall with your feet spread around 6 inches apart.
Step 2: Place the book between your legs as if it was a bike seat.
Step 3: Get the second person to measure from the ground to the top of the book.
This is your inseam length which is referred to as Inside-Leg.
Hybrid bikes for women come in four different frame sizes ranging from extra small to large.
The size of the frame is dependent upon your height.
Hybrid bike sizes are usually similar to the mountain bike sizes. This is because a hybrid bike is based upon combining the mountain and road bike.
Unlike women sizes. There are six different size frames for hybrid bikes.
Again similar to the mountain bike size chart.
The frame you end up choosing is based upon your height.
Similar to BMX’s, choosing the right size bike for you child is based upon their height to the wheel diameter.
Age is considered but it’s better to choose the right size bike based upon the height.
Choosing the right size bike for a kid is more difficult because the size of the bike is determined by the wheel diameter. Unlike adult bike where there are different size frames for different wheel diameters.
With kid’s the frame size is considered as the frame gets bigger with the increase in wheel diameter.
