USA-ALL in the media

False notions promoted by propaganda from anti-access groups:

FALSE:
The motorized recreation community doesn't care about the environment.
FACT:
Participants in motorized recreation are deeply concerned about the health and future of our environment. Most users become involved in motorized recreation as another means for getting out and enjoying our beautiful and diverse backcountry with their family and friends. Responsible motorized recreation and environmental stewardship can and does exist hand in hand.

FALSE:
Motorized recreation advocates want to be able to use their machines anywhere they please.
FACT:
Many areas are suitable for open, cross-country travel by OHV users. Sand dunes such as Little Sahara, desert areas such as Factory Butte, and other locations are excellent locales for this type of recreation. However, given the increase in popularity of motorized recreation, having all public lands open for unrestricted cross-country travel is not realistic.

FALSE:
Motorized recreation proponents hate wilderness.
FACT:
Many motorized recreation users also enjoy the recreation value of true wilderness. Most of the motorized community participates in other activities such as fishing, hiking, backpacking, canyoneering, rock climbing, bird watching, and nature photography in addition to motorized recreation. True wilderness should be designated in most instances where it already exists, but wilderness should never be artificially "created" by closing areas to historic uses and existing rights-of-way.

FALSE:
The motorized recreation community has no interest in self policing the few bad apples in the group.
FACT:

Programs such as Utah OHV Trail Patrol train motorized recreation users in peer enforcement activities and methods to assist law enforcement and land managers in curtailing irresponsible motorized use. On any given weekend, several OHV Trail Patrol groups are participating in peer enforcement activities on public lands around Utah.

FALSE:
The motorized recreation community isn't interested in assisting land managers in maintaining our public lands.
FACT:

Motorized recreation clubs and organizations provide thousands of volunteer labor hours each year to land managers across Utah. Work projects include fence building, facilities construction, education initiatives, trail and road maintenance, and signage installation. Some of these projects occur in remote areas where motorized recreation users assist in transporting supplies, tools, and volunteers to sites that are practically inaccessible to land managers.
